Faith & Fitness

Guideposts.com offers lots of information about healthy living from veteran experts like author and nutritionist Rebecca Katz and Season 4 Biggest Loser contestant Julie Hadden to our newest authority on making positive changes, New Healthy You Contest winner, Tammie Temple.

But we found a host of new experts: you!

When our fitness specialist Theresa Rowe told her story a few weeks ago of conducting a Bible study on balance balls, we went to Facebook to see if readers had discovered ways to combine faith and fitness.

Not surprisingly, you have!

Robert Longo is among many who pray while racking up miles on the treadmill. For Sue Sarno Lemure, prayer sets the rhythm of her walking pace, while praying helps Debbie Byars Patterson’s workouts go faster: She loses track of time. Melissa Diane Johnson says she finds calm in repeating Bible verses while she does yoga.

Many folks responded that they love to listen to Christian music during their workout. JoAnne Bennett focuses on the verses while Keri Guilbert likes upbeat Hillsong music for fast workouts.

We also heard a lot of people admit that prayer helps them persevere when they’re tempted to throw in the towel.

The benefits of sweating it out? “Staying active will keep you in tune with your inner soul,” wrote Angela Fisher. Now that’s expert advice!
