Wyclef Jean looks to promote the joy of giving this holiday season

While celebrities can be spotted all around New York, they tend to keep a low profile, but not Wyclef Jean. According to theepochtimes.com, the singer recently partnered with Western Union, who is looking to promote Visa prepaid gift cards this holiday season.

In exchange for Jean's face appearing on the gift card, Western Union will donate $225,000 to Jean's Yéle Haiti foundation, which supports education and humanitarian relief projects in the country.

Jean looks at this endeavor as a way to spread cheer during the holiday season, and hopes to inspire people about the joys of giving.

"Through this relationship, Western Union and I hope to inspire people to lend a helping hand and do a random act of giving this holiday season whether it's sending money to family and friends or donating time to a charity or cause," Jean told theepochtimes.com.

The online news site Good News Now reports that after handing out the giftcards, Jean performed a free concert for 2,000 fans.
