CBS is reporting that a southern Florida native is looking to bring cheer to those living with cancer by starting the group Spirit Jump, a non-profit organization that sends small gifts and messages to cancer patients.
Meaghan Edelstein was inspired to start the cause as she is a cancer survivor herself. In 2007, Edelstein survived a terminal cervical cancer diagnosis that gave her a new outlook on life. She went through multiple treatments including internal and external radiation, chemotherapy and many surgeries.
"I was in the hospital for four months. There wasn't one day that went by that I didn't get a card and some flowers or a little gift. It got to the point where that was the one moment in my day that I looked forward to," Edelstein told CBS.
One of the patients touched by this group is 10-year-old Christopher George, who is diagnosed with lymphoma. George has been so touched by the messages he's received that he plans to become a "spirit jumper" when he recovers.

I enjoyed reading about
I enjoyed reading about Meaghan Edelstein's fight with cancer. I too am a cancer survivor of Stage 4 Melanoma. The cards and gifts and little thoughts and expressions were so helpful during the difficult times. Knowing others care is uplifting and I find it inspirational to stop and give a hug or a smile to other cancer patients that I come in contact with.
