St. John's Hospice is looking to teach homeless people about coming together through team spirit, which is why they've enlisted Dr. Wilbur "Billy" Oaks to serve as a soccer coach for the men's league.
Philly.com reports that through team Body and Soul's first season, the main focus was learning about determination and dependability. Oaks feels that this is treatment for both mind and body, and is trying to show that a positive attitude can lead to great accomplishments.
Oaks wants his team to continue to train during the off season through Back on My Feet, which is a non-profit organization that engages the homeless in jogging with the hope the hobby will promote self-sufficiency.
When asked about what he hopes to accomplish by coaching team Body and Soul, Oaks responded with three goals.
"I want to make them a better person, I want to make them a better athlete and I want to get them a job," Oaks told philly.com.
In between kicking around the soccer ball, some players have reportedly have already gone on interviews and some have even landed jobs.
