After two years of providing a thoughtful consideration of faith, sin and redemption, the award-winning TNT drama "Saving Grace" will air its final episodes in 2010.
The remaining six shows of season 3 will be pushed to next summer, while three more episodes will be filmed to wrap up the storyline, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Saving Grace's protagonist is a heavy-drinking, fast-living detective whose "last-chance" angel, Earl, provides her with an opportunity to turn her life around after she accidentally kills a man with her car.
It is easy for viewers to identify with Grace, who is flawed but has a good heart.
But, as the series comes to a close, many viewers are wondering: will Grace truly be saved in the end or will she revert to her old habits?
"I don't think Grace will go back to her old ways—too much has happened to her," writes JenM on TNT's website. "But I really don't think she'll be completely transformed either. She'll be somewhere in between. She's on a journey and she's not there yet."
In interviews, creator Nancy Miller has emphasized that angels such as Earl can only provide guidance, not solve a person's problems.
