Residence: Michigan City, Indiana
Why I Joined: I’ve been trying to lose weight since 1998 and have had some success, but I love food and have a tendency to eat when I’m feeling stressed or emotional. My husband is very supportive but he’s a thin guy who just can’t relate, so I’m hoping other Healthy You members can provide some support.
My Goal: I’ve never been tiny but I could definitely be smaller, so I’d like to lose 55 pounds, which would bring me down to 135. I’d actually love to lose more, but I need to be reasonable so I don’t set myself up for disappointment.
My Challenge: I first went to Weight Watchers in 2001 and have been moderately successful—I lost 20 pounds and kept it off. But since then I’ve tried different ways to lose more weight: low-carb dieting, diet pills, Slim-fast, and the Weight Watchers calorie-counting point system. Except for that first 20 pounds, I’ve always gained the weight back. My biggest challenge is to stop the yo-yoing.
A Word from the Wise: I’ve found that it’s important to find new ways to exercise so you don’t get bored. I was inspired by Tammie Temple’s video about the Zumba class she took so, on a whim, I signed up for a new exercise class I hadn’t heard of, something called Bosu, an aerobics class that focuses on balance training and core strength. It’s been a fun new way to get exercise in.

Allison, I will be praying
Allison, I will be praying for your continued sucess in getting healthy! I am so blessed to have this opportunity and, more importantly, being able to help others in the process. One thing I would like to encourage you about is to be in a state of constant prayer that God will give you the strength and willpower to succeed. After all, that is His will for us! Thanks for all your encouragement and inspiration!
Thank you, Tammie, for your
Thank you, Tammie, for your support and your prayers! I have definitely been (and will be) praying about this. It is a daily challenge not to just "give up" and tell myself "this is the way I am and I can't change it." I know I CAN change, with God's help and a lot of hard work. Thanks again for commenting -- your story and blogs have been a real inspiration to me in my efforts. :)
