Earth Angel

Marlene JuHaros, of Whitehouse, Texas, was excited when her husband told her he wanted to take her on a cruise for their 35th wedding anniversary. 

To finance the cruise, he planned to sell their extra car, an old Seville. It was such a grand gesture, yet I wasn’t too surprised when she told me later that they had decided not to go. 

Instead, they sensed God was asking them to buy four new tires and do the repairs (about $300) on the car, and give it to a single mom they had met, who really needed it. They did so. 

“I think the Lord will be pleased about that,” Marlene said in her usual quiet way. I was amazed. Do people today really do those things? But that wasn't all.

Marlene’s sister still wanted the couple to go on the cruise, so she checked on the cost of tickets and discovered a one-day promotion of $1000 off each cruise ticket, bringing the price down to about $600 per ticket. 

Excited, Marlene’s sister investigated more, and found that the airline involved was offering $100 off per ticket, for that destination and day only!    
   
“It was a net savings of about $2,300, the exact amount we would have probably gleaned from the sale of the car,” Marlene says. “But later we realized that even with the sale money, without this promotion we wouldn't have been able to afford the vacation.” 

Instead, because this couple followed the Lord, they are going on a week-long cruise, and a young single mom is driving her Seville to work each day.

I wrote about the angels at Marlene’s wedding in an earlier book, Guardian Angels. She never expects a reward from the Lord. But she is never surprised when he sends her an unexpected gift.

She’s a true Earth angel.
