Jennifer Varner was only 25 and recently returned from her honeymoon when she received some life-changing news: her 30-year-old husband Jeff was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer.
But the story of this Cary, North Carolina family does not end there. Despite a bleak prognosis, Jeff eventually won his fight against cancer and began the road to recovery.
When discussing the diagnosis, rather than describing fear and anger, Jennifer says the experience was a catalyst for personal change. The mother of three was inspired to live life to the fullest and go after her dream of starting an online business.
These days, she is eager to spread the message that a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence but can even be "a blessing" that can change your life.
"Cancer changed both my husband's and my life for the better. It helped us face our pasts and plan a better future," Jennifer explains.
In honor of her husband's 10-year remission mark, Jennifer's company, Pure eCommerce, is auctioning off a turnkey website package for a popular domain name to the highest bidder. All proceeds will go to St. Anthony's hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, where Jeff's cancer was treated.
"I find inspiration in the fact that my husband was given this amazing second chance at life which gave us the opportunity to grow as a family," Jennifer says.
