Michael Oher's inspirational story is a testament to the power of family, faith and hope.
When he was a 16-year-old in Memphis, Tennessee, Oher was essentially homeless, going from foster homes to various friends' houses, though none of them felt like a home. However, that all changed with Oher was noticed by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy.
After seeing him walking outside in below freezing temperatures with only a t-shirt and shorts on, the Tuohy's took him in, which in turn became a life-changing experience for everyone.
The couple hired a tutor to help Oher makeup for his years of missed education and eventually became eligible to attend school. Most likely because of his commanding 6-foot-5 frame, Oher was brought onto the school's football team.
Today, he is an offensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens.
Oher's story was the subject of the book The Blind Side: Evolution of the Game, which has now been turned into a feature film starring Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw.

Michael Oher's story reminds
Michael Oher's story reminds me of Susan Boyle's. Do you remember her? She was the amazing singer who blew everyone away last year on "Britain's Got Talent".
They both were misjudged for much of their lives based on appearances until given the chance to shine. They are also both people of great Christian faith.
I just found out that the TV Guide Channel is having an exclusive special on her December 13. I was so inspired by "The Blind Side" and I hope to have a similarly uplifting experience watching Susan's special.
