The New York Daily News reports that when Reverend Andrew O'Connor originally had the idea to create canvas bags filled with supplies for Hurricane Katrina victims two years ago, it was because he wanted them to have a functioning bag even after the supplies were gone.
Since then, O'Connor has created "Goods of Conscience," a clothing line that uses natural fibers found in Guatemala and hand sewn by New York City workers.
What began as wanting to provide quality clothes and bring hope and faith to Guatemalans grew as a way to employ weavers in the country as well as unemployed workers in the Bronx.
CBS reports that O'Connor's line has gotten a lot of attention from fashion magazines such as Harper's Bazaar and Vogue, whose editor-in-chief Anna Wintour called one of his pair of shorts "the perfect fit."
