Hello, angel lovers.
Last time we answered four trivia questions about angels. Here are four more to challenge your knowledge of angel lore:
Have people always believed in angels? How did it start?
In the year 325, the First Council of Nicea was formed to decide what should and shouldn’t be included as the church’s “official doctrine.” (This is where the Nicean Creed comes from.)
After much debate, it was decided that angels were an important part of Jesus’ teachings, and this brought about a great interest in angels among the laity.
Are Catholic Christians the only ones who believe in angels?
Absolutely not. Members of all Bible-based faiths believe in angels, primarily because they are mentioned in Scripture over 300 times, and thus are an integral part of the Bible.
In other Christian denominations, angels are part of the tradition of the faith. Orthodox Judaism accepts the same view of angels as do Christians. Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith followed the directions of an angel, who told him where to find the plates that later translated into the Book of Mormon.
Muslims believe that angels are mediators between God and His people, and they are often mentioned in the Koran. Buddhism and Hinduism, while not believing in a Deity, still have a tradition of spirits, as do Native Americans. Angels, it seems, are everywhere!
How do angels communicate with us?
So much goes on in the world of which we’re unaware. And if it were not for angels, we would probably be in constant danger.
So we can presume that angels communicate with us mainly through thoughts, or what we know as “inspiration” as they try to keep us physically and spiritually safe.
However, angels never take charge of our free will. That is a gift that only we can use.
What if there were no angels? Do you think the world would be a different place?
Think about that this week, and send us your comments.
