Photographing angels is a passion of mine.
Over the years I've amassed quite a collection of slides taken in Italy, where I travel every chance I get. Anytime life requires a little extra inspiration, I like to revisit my portfolio of angels.
In times of difficulty, especially, I turn my attention to angels. When I'm worried, the angel at San Pietro in Vincoli seems to be basking in a heavenly glow, offering a sense of well-being. The majestic angel in San Giovanni Valdarno is a source of strength when I feel weak.
At those times when I am overwhelmed by all the suffering in this world, the compassionate angels at the churchyard of San Miniato al Monte near Florence become loving witnesses. The angel that floats high atop Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome (at right) reminds me to lift myself up and live in a lighter way.
I love all the angels, but my favorite is the angel from the Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence. The face is so alive, so real, yet divinely perfect.
I'm grateful for the angels presence in my life. And even when my portfolio isn't close by, their images are always in my mind, forever bringing comfort and aid.
