Cantor Estherleon Schwartz remembers being 4 years old and being chased with her family by Nazis.
Her father threw her over a barbed wire fence and called to the heavens "save my daughter, and she will serve you forever." It is a vivid memory that has stayed with her forever.
Since then, Schwartz began a successful clothing empire, which she later gave up in order to begin her work as a cantor.
"I wanted to bring people closer to something that was bigger than themselves [through song]," Schwartz explained.
Schwartz sings to inspire people and works at a well-known hospital in Los Angeles in hopes of providing spiritual healing that medicine can't offer.
Schwartz also continues to give back as a UN ambassador for peace. She recently released a book, originally intended to be a eulogy letter, and announced that part of the proceeds would go towards the Feed The Children organization that donates food, medicine and other essentials to impoverished children.
