It was love at first sight for my wife, Marilyn, and me when we found the perfect house in Colo—tall, two stories—with enough bedrooms for our four kids. Half an acre for them to play on.

Two blocks from the elementary school and a short walk from Grandma’s, all wrapped in a small-town central Iowa atmosphere perfect for raising a family.

There’s one thing just about anyone in rural America will tell you—life’s tough for family farmers.

If we’re not getting whiplash from commodity prices, we’re busting our fuel budgets, worrying about the weather or nursing old equipment in hopes it lasts one more year.

Educators Look to Feed Their Starving Students

According to the Huffington Post, 63 percent of teachers have said that they provide food to their starving students using their own money to tackle hunger in the classrooms.

A national organization known as Share Our Strength looks to help stop child hunger by raising funds for those in need and educating families on providing meals on the cheap.

Some believe the tanking economy may have something to do with this problem, as 4 million new child hunger cases have been reported this year alone.
