Woman Refuses to Act Her Age by Skydiving at 95 Years Old

For those who feel old age may restrict them from doing many things, Eleanor Cunningham is providing an inspiring story.

News Channel 13 in New York reports that Cunningham, known as "Nanny," went skydiving on her 95th birthday.

While most of her family was there to cheer her on and take pictures, some members were baffled by her decision. "They're not speaking to me," she said with a laugh in her interview.

Underwater Adventure

Todd Frey started taking underwater photos as keepsakes to remind him of his dives while back in snowy Wisconsin.

Soon, these vacation time souvenirs became a real past time.

While not quitting his day job anytime soon, Todd has grown to love his hobby. Take a look at some of the great shots he’s taken under water, and above.

It IS a Wonderful Life

A friend told me recently that seeing a movie I made more than 40 years ago is a holiday tradition in his family. That movie is It's a Wonderful Life, and out of all the 80 films I've made, it's my favorite. But it has an odd history.

Lady's Man

I loved to ride horseback in the high wilderness country of the Rocky Mountains. Sure, there were risks—the rugged terrain, the weather, even an occasional grizzly bear. But my mare, Lady, was an experienced mountain horse. I'd come to trust her implicitly, which was a mite different for me because I found it hard to trust, not just other people, but even the Almighty himself. Would he really be there for me, a lone horseman in the wilderness?

Their Stories

My name is Nicholas Rider. I'm 14 and last year I published my first book. How's that? you ask. Well, it started with my grandfather.

Grandpa was a veteran of World War II, and maybe because I loved building model airplanes, I always used to ask him about what he'd done in the war. He was pretty modest about it. "Not a whole lot," he said.

Highway 1 Adventure

Experience and adventure. That’s what I wanted in my 20s. And there wasn’t enough to satisfy me in my hometown of La Mirada, just outside Los Angeles. Besides, my vision was starting to falter.

I’d always had problems with my eyes, but now it was different. The doctors were concerned that I was slowly losing my eyesight. There were still so many things I hadn’t done or seen yet.

Hidden Treasure

"Team Ria will find the loot!” my niece Regina declared.

She brandished a compass and a journal, items from the treasure-hunting kit her mother, my sister Maria—Ria for short—had assembled as a Christmas gift. Now we were putting them to good use.

Somewhere amid the browning oak trees and rocky shores of Catskill Point Park was a golden doubloon that had lain hidden for 17 years—and we wanted to find it. We needed to.

Both have connections here. This is where Wayne was born, and it's also the setting for the film The Bridges of Madison County, starring Eastwood and Meryl Streep. Look for the Roseman Covered Bridge.

Diane Alford goes to a lot of little league games near her hometown of Smyrna, Georgia. But she doesn't care who wins or loses. She doesn't have a favorite team and she doesn't argue with the ump.

All that really matters to her is that the players have fun, stay happy, and above all, that they feel just like any other kid.

Trouble on the Rips

I didn't have to ask my wife, Debra, if the river was high that April afternoon; I could hear it. The two dogs barked joyfully as we unloaded our canoe from the pickup. Pee Wee, our 15-year-old sheltie, jumped around my legs like a puppy, and even Bronnie, the big German shepherd, momentarily forgot his dignity as my Seeing Eye dog and tugged eagerly at the lead.
