The phone call was so unexpected it left me practically speechless.

“Hi, Mom! It’s Crystal.” Crystal was my 26-year-old daughter, calling from Wisconsin. I was on vacation in the Pacific Northwest, at that moment winding along a mountain road near Mount St. Helens. I couldn’t believe my phone even had reception.

Did you know that in the Bible, there are 139 references to the healing power of God’s love?

Indeed, when Jesus walked on earth, he brought a two-pronged message of good news. First, he preached the message of forgiveness, offering imperfect people reconciliation to God and the promise of eternal life.

Secondly, he healed people. Physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually, Jesus healed people.

The Boy Who Needed Alex

My yellow lab, Alex, a certified therapy dog, tugged at her leash and trotted down the elementary school hallway, eager to get to the kids we’d been visiting the past couple months.

She stopped at our usual classroom. I straightened her red scarf and opened the door. But there were no kids. Just the teacher. That’s odd, I thought.
