Greetings, citizens of earth! It's time to celebrate the beauty and bounty of our home planet. So why not stop by the movie theater this Earth Day to catch a few earth-friendly flicks? (Don't forget to recycle your soda bottles and candy boxes!)
Disney Nature—a new production company from Disney—has put out it's first film: a nature documentary called, Earth. The film is a narrated feature, following the real-life adventures of 3 animal families—polar bears, elephants and whales, through the seasons.
This film provides high-definition, close up views of some of the most magnificent creatures on earth. Spectacular camera work makes viewers think they are actually out there in the water, on the African plains or the frozen tundra. At the same time, the velvety voice of veteran actor James Earl Jones adds a storyline, making this film more of an epic tale than a traditional documentary.
This is a wonderful film to see with your children or grandchildren. It's captivating, inspiring and educational. Where else can you see such unique and beautiful critters so up close and personal?
Also note the importance the filmmakers place on the power of the sun. I won't give anything away, but I will tell you that there is a very inspirational message there.
If you're a fan of the Discovery Channel's series Planet Earth, then you might recognize some of the footage in Earth. The film is actually an extension of the popular television series—which you can pick up on DVD and watch at home.
So Earth Day is about honoring our planet, right? What better way is there to do so than to save it? ...From an evil alien bent on world domination? That's what digital monsters do in Dreamworks Animation's new movie Monsters vs Aliens.

That group includes the world's tallest woman, a lizard man, a cockroach man and a gelatinous blob named B.O.B. And you can see them in 3-D in participating theaters!
An all-star cast includes Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon, Rainn Wilson of The Office fame, Kiefer Sutherland and Seth Rogen brings a blend of humor, excitement and adventure to the big 3-D screen.
