I'm a Fan of This Sweet and Inspiring Video
Fall gets my blood up, not just because it is unequivocally my favorite season but also because it is the advent of college football, and as some of you know I am a hardcore fan of the maize & blue Michigan Wolverines, my undergraduate alma mater.
Julee insists I watch their games in a kind of isolation chamber, so I don’t scare our dog with what she unfairly calls my bellowing. Okay, a lot of men—and no small number of women—can get pretty silly about their sports allegiances. (I mean, I have NEVER painted myself maize & blue and tailgated in arctic temperatures.)
As a Michigan adherent, though, I must also pledge my fealty to the Big Ten conference which means I harbor admittedly unchristian antipathy for the teams of the Pac-10 conference out west, with whom we do annual battle in the Rose Bowl every New Year’s Day. Nothing epitomizes the Pac-10 like the Trojans of Southern Cal. Therefore the Trojans are my enemy.
Maybe not anymore. Check out this sweet and inspiring video shot behind-the-scenes at the USC football program. It got me. The video only needs a few set-ups:
1. USC coach Pete Carroll is famous for pulling one big prank on his players at the beginning of every season.
2. The unofficial team song is that old Bill Withers number “Lean On Me.”
3. Check out the young linebacker who eventually gets the song started—his shyness is so endearing and his voice lovely.
4. The talk the special guest speaker delivers at the end is awesome advice for anyone, not just kids playing college football, and a lesson in what we all should embrace in life…and it’s not sports fandom.
I’ll stop bellowing now.
Enjoy!

Truthfully I have never been
Truthfully I have never been a fan of football so I almost
didn't watch the video. It was awesome!! I have been a
Guideposts for many, many years. I figured if Guideposts
had this video it must be something special & it really is.
Guideposts is just a great magazine & I never like to just
throw them away. I always pass them on to someone.
My minister at church knew about Guideposts but wasn't
a member. I have been giving mine to him & his wife after I am done with them. Next year I'm going to have to find
someone else to give mine to because for Christmas I got
them their own subscription of guideposts. This magazine is awesome also!!! I would love it if my whole family got it but they have excuses saying they don't have time to read. One yr I got a subscription for my daughter but she didn't want it renewed. She really doesn't know what she is missing.
Their magazine Angels on Earth is also great. We struggle
with our finances especially sine we are both handicapped & unable to work but I always renew my subscription even if
I have to not pay a whole bill the month Guideposts is due.
That & Angels on Earth I will always renew no matter what!!
I'm hoping someday the spirtual, hope & everything will
finally sink into my brain & I can stop my worrying & learn
to give everything to God. At least he knows I want to!!!
I just haven't figured out how to do it. I'm to much of a
worrier because of all of our bills & our health problems
since both of us are always in pain. Plus many other
family problems. But I'm going to keep reading these
wonderful uplifting stories & just maybe it WILL SINK IN
to this brain of mine. Sorry I went on so long I did not
intend to. God Bless you all. Marilyn
