"Where the Wild Things Are"
Rarely is there a movie about kids or for kids that truly captures the essence of childhood—those crazy, confusing, yet wonderfully imaginative years that we've all experienced.
Typically, movies about kids and for kids come off as if they are from an adult's perspective: a grown-up looking back on life as a child. The experience of watching a move like this can spark a little nostalgia—you're looking back on your yesteryear.

"Julie & Julia"
I went to see this new film, starring Meryl Streep as the late, great Julia Child, on a Tuesday night. Afterward, I went straight home to my kitchen, and didn't stop cooking until Wednesday morning.
I left the theater half-starved from drooling over all the delectable dishes whipped up in the movie, and inspired to recreate them myself.

Outdoor Movie Night!
It's a gorgeous evening outside, but you just rented a great flick that you've been dying to see all summer. Do you skip the movie and spend the twilight hours relaxing in a hammock? Or do you settle in on the couch in front of your flat-screen television? What do you do?
The solution is simple: build your very own movie theater outside!
All you need is a projector, a laptop computer, some speakers, an inspiring DVD, a bed sheet, and a backyard.

UP
As a movie critic and all-out movie fanatic, I rarely find a celluloid gem that can make me laugh, cry, and high-five strangers sitting in the theater next to me—all within the first five minutes of the film.
Disney/Pixar's new animated feature UP is such a film. I was walking on air by the time I'd left the theater!
It has an inspiring message for people of all ages: You're never too young, or too old, to have an adventure.
